Why I Bought: A Lap Tray
Now and again you find a "thing" that you can't resist buying. Here, our presenter Carl looks at just such a creation - The Lap Tray - A nice comfy cushion for his gadgets.
LapTray - What and Why?
Carl and Pete buy some funny things - This is one of Carl's more odd, but useful purchases:
Product : Laptray/Craft lap tray
Manufacturer: Maxim
Basically has the appearance of a traditional 'TV super tray' but with some sophisticated adaptations. It has a beanbag style base that sits on your lap giving both comfort and a good grip to your lap.
The top side has a flat hard surface with several good design features including a grove for holding a pen and a cup holder but one of the handiest features is the bright LED lamp on a bendable arm powered by two batteries located in the base of the tray.
Why I was surprisingly impressed:
I wouldn't say I was so surprised, more justifiably impressed. For many years now I have used forms of smaller laptop computer i.e. Psion MX, Asus Note Pad etc...
Personally I always like to put these devices on a firm surface when using them for extended periods of time. In the past I've used large books, folders and even the phone directory enabling me to work in comfort on the sofa or in bed. It was inevitable to me that if I saw the right thing I would buy it, and this was the right thing.
It's the right size for both a small laptop computer and space to use a mouse. The very handy drink and pen holder has been surprisingly more useful than originally anticipated and the light is great. Useful for writing, crafts or whatever else you may want to do on your lap.
