Pete:
OK, and talking of disappointments, I wonder how you're getting on with some challenges? Are you going to disappointment me, or am I going to be pleased here? What were your two challenges in the last show?
Kelly:
Well, I've got my amateur radio exam coming up, and then also ....
Pete:
Well, let's talk about the amateur radio thing first of all. So you've got your foundation course coming up - how are you doing so far?
Kelly:
Not too bad. I've learnt the phonetic alphabet now, so I'm quite happy with that.
Pete:
And what book have you got sitting on your desk there?
Kelly:
That is my Foundation Licence Now.
Pete:
Excellent, enjoy! - we'll catch up with you at the next show, to find out how well you've done. And what was your other challenge?
Kelly:
My other challenge was to get into "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".
Pete:
OK - have you been converted yet?
Kelly:
I have found it quite funny.
Pete:
How far into it are you?
Kelly:
I'm kind of half way through the second part.
Pete:
OK, so where are they in the story?
Kelly:
At the moment in the story, he's just woken up in the spaceship.
Pete:
Oh, you're only at episode two, then - the Vogon Constructor Fleet.
Kelly:
Yeah, part two.
Pete:
So the earth's blown up, and they're in the Vogon ship - is that right? Are you finding it amusing?
Kelly:
Oh, I am. I am finding it quite amusing.
Pete:
Any quotes you've got for me yet?
Kelly:
My favourite bit by far is when they actually come down to blow up earth, and inform all of humankind that they should have actually looked at the planning notes.
Pete:
Which are on display in Alpha Centauri, and had been for the last twenty years - yeah, that's the one.
Kelly:
I also do quite like the fact they keep quoting that humankind don't really know much.
Pete:
Can you remember the entry in The Hitchhiker's Guide for Earth?
Kelly:
Harmless.
Pete:
Obviously, or indeed, mostly harmless! Well, there you go - keep going. You've got plenty more episodes to go, and we'll catch up in the next episode to find out if you have been converted. And Arthur Dent - big fan?
Kelly:
I kind of prefer Ford.
Pete:
You wait - I think you'll be after Marvin the Paranoid Android!
Kelly:
Oh, really? - OK, well I'll have to wait until I get there.
