Freeview HD on the iPhone

Here is a transcript of our feature on the Freeview iPhone app, recorded in February 2010:

Carl:

What else have you got to show us?

Pete:

I'm actually going to stick with Freeview HD, because over the last couple of days there's been a launch of something Freeview-related for the iPhone.

Carl:

Oh yeah - what's that then?

Pete:

Oh, the iPhone? - well, it's an over-priced but incredibly sexy touchscreen device.

Carl:

No no no, I mean, what's the new thing for the iPhone?

Pete:

Right, right, sorry. There's a little icon - what does that say?

Carl:

HD.

Pete:

Freeview HD iPhone App icon Yes, Freeview HD, let's fire this up on my iPhone, here we go. What's on now on the iPhone? - an arrange button, search button, and this is basically an electronic programme guide for Freeview HD, as well as all the other Freeview channels. A very quick description?

Carl:

Well basically it has all the channels on the left hand side, and it tells you exactly what's on and what time, and you can just ... that's rather intense actually, a lot of information there, very handy.

Pete:

You can actually press the arrange button and filter out the channels you don't want, which is quite handy, and there's this little search button here, when I press that, what comes up?

Carl:

There's a whole little form to fill out - Twitter Picks, film, documentaries, children's, music, sport, and you just choose a category, I guess, and then off you go.

Pete:

What's actually quite nice here is this Twitter Picks, so this connected you to the Freeview Twitter feed, and I'm just waiting for this to load up now. This is meant to inspire you as to what to watch, so it's telling me today: "The Brits is on ITV, they haven't let Sam Fox on again, have they? Isn't it time someone brought back leopard-print sweater vests?" ... Ferris Bueller, oh yes, one of your favourite films, isn't it?

Carl:

Bueller, Bueller, Bueller ...

Pete:

And oh look, the third new story here, "The Humax HD Fox T2 Freeview box is on sale today" - well, we knew that.

Carl:

Swing, balala, swing, baadaah!

Pete:

There you go, so that's a Freeview HD application available now in the Apps Store, free of charge.
