Anyone else with the BBC News app on their smartphone just received a rather odd message?
Our office iPhone beeped with the following urgent news alert pushed to users of the BBC News App:
“NYPD Twitter campaign ‘backfires’ after hashtag hijacked. Push sucks! Pull blows! BREAKING NEWS No nudity in latest episode of Game of Thrones!!! MORE BREAKING NEWS IIIIII like testing”
Shortly after this message, a second identical message appeared.
After a short pause, and no doubt some very loud noises at shouting at BBC HQ – the following message was pushed out: We apologise for previous two test push notifications from BBC News which were sent in error”
We suspect the Interwebs will be abuzz with people tweeting about this odd message from Aunty Beeb. Clearly a rather embarrassing gaffe by the BBC… what’s the verdict… trainee learning the system not realising it was live? Site hacked? Application developers not realising the system was live?
Who else got this then?
Pete
I got that on my iPad – I was playing ludo at the time – thought it seemed rather odd!
