Channel One Closure Causes Confusion

Although this is now slightly old news now, we’re gettings lots of emails from Freeview users confused that they can now no longer get Channel One or Virgin 1. We thought it would be helpful to clarify what’s gone on, and why Star Trek has vanished from Freeview Channel 20…

Regular listeners should be on the case as we’ve covered this in recent shows, but just to re-cap:

• Sky bought Virgin1 from Virgin Media in June 2010
• Sky re-branded Virgin 1 to Channel One in September 2010 (as they could no longer use the Virgin name)
• Sky announced in mid-September 2010 that they would close Channel One and Bravo
• Channel One went-off air on the 1st of February 2011
