Bad Day for Vodafone UK

Posted on 28 February 201128 February 2011 By FrequencyCast No Comments on Bad Day for Vodafone UK

Vodafone SIM CardHundreds of thousands of Vodafone customers in England lost service today. The outage affected voice calls, text messages, voicemail and data services, and is apparently as a result of a break-in at a key Vodafone data centre in Basingstoke.

According to the BBC website burglars stole some vital computer equipment and network hardware. The Sun’s site talks of sledgehammers being used to gain access.

The break-in seems to have occured in the early hours of Monday the 28th February 2011, and services were out for most of the morning. As of Monday afternoon, we understand voice and data services are back up.
