Here in the FrequencyCast office, we’re all getting terribly excited about the ‘any day now’ launch of BT Vision. With BT Vision, you get a special set-top box from BT that connects to BT Broadband to offer a range of downloadable TV content over the Internet. The box is also a PVR and a Freeview box, and will offer a wide range of content. In the last 24 hours, BT Vision has announced that that Disney / Buena Vista International has signed with BT Vision, now meaning that DreamWorks, Paramount, BBC Worldwide, Warner, Universal, National Geographic, Viacom, Turner and Sony BMG are now on board with BT Vision.
Our money’s on a December launch, and as soon as we get our hands on a box, we’ll be featuring a full review in our show. There’s some more detail on our BT Vision page, but we’d be interested in getting your comments on BT Vision…
More info on this would be great.
I don’t think I’d particularly view much On-Demand content on a pay-per-view basis, but if they got something similar to Cable with a free 7-day catch up service for BBC – and in particular C4 – it might be worth a look if the price is right.
If they can offer phone + broadband + BT Vision for around £30 (similar to cable) it be well worth a look.
Answering my own question, C4 and BT Vision have signed a deal to provide On Demand content via it’s 4oD service.
Don’t know though if this will include the free 7 day catch up service available on cable!

As I already have BT option 3 I am staggered to think that I was not offered A V Box! I am now tied into Top upTv Anytime which so far is JUST a frustration to add to an already aggravating situation!!!!
Just to answer the last post… BT Vision is separate to BT Broadband – it’s not a case of getting a free BT Vision box just because you’re on BT Broadband – it’s the other way around… BT Vision is only available to BT Broadband customers – the box is free, and there’s a £60 install fee and £30 connection fee.
