BioVault Review Transcript:

Pete:

We caught up with a company called Orca next, who offer some rather clever media storage and power charging solutions, and you found something that was a bit like a metal credit card with a little window on it, and we spoke to Lewis from Orca, asking him what this little weird credit card thing was.

Lewis:

Well guys, this is what we call the BioVault, it's a portable biometric secure storage card. What that means is, imagine your USB stick that you put in your computer and upload and download information, well it's basically the same thing with an added extra, it's got what we call FIT, which is Fingerprint Identification Technology.

Carl:

So hold on - let me interrupt you here, this is a memory stick, what size memory?

Lewis:

It comes in two, four and eight, and we are working on 16 and 32 gigabytes at the moment.

Carl:

OK, the size of a credit card, but it has an added security bonus of a fingerprint what ...?

Lewis:

That's right, you swipe your thumb down the fingerprint identification module, if you like, read your fingerprint, secures the information. So imagine now you lose your USB stick, you might have some pictures in there of yourself, you might have some information, some important documents, if it goes missing, someone can use that. With this, you swipe your finger, it's locked to you - unless someone's got your finger.

Carl:

That's phenomenal. Let me ask though, how much does this cost?

Lewis:

Well, it varies in price actually, and for the two GB it's £39.99, for the four, it's £49.99, and for the eight, £64.99.
