FrequencyCast Chats to Pollyanna Woodward
November is an exciting month for Channel 5’s Gadget Show – not only has the new series launched, but it’s coming to London at the end of the month for a Christmas Gadget Show Live.
We were lucky enough to be able to catch up with Pollyanna Woodward, who together with Jason Bradbury, present the flagship Gadget Show.
Pete had lots of fun chatting with Pollyanna, a.k.a GadgetPolly to her Twitter followers, about smartphones, apps, fitness products, the new series of Gadget Show, and what we can expect from the London edition of Gadget Show Live. Our ten minute interview is available now, for your listening pleasure.
At the heart of the interview, was discussion of a survey released today highlighting the gadgets that we can’t live without. We touched on the list in the interview, but here is the full Top Ten list of those vital bits of tech:
- Smartphone
- Broadband
- TV
- Laptop
- Tablet
- Games console
- Digital TV player/recorder
- MP3 player
- E-reader
- DVD player
As expected, we can’t live without our smartphones, and we ask Polly for her thoughts on today’s smartphones. She owns both a Samsung Galaxy Android phone and the new iPhone 5 – But which does she prefer, and why? And what apps does GadgetPolly feel she can’t live without? Have a listen and find out.
Pollyanna and Pete also compare notes on how many steps they’ve both done today – Coincidentally Pete’s carrying his Fitbit and Polly’s wearing her fashionable Nike Fuelband.
The survey into the UK’s tech habits also looks back at retro gadgets, and here’s the list of the best loved bits of classic tech:
- Digital alarm clock
- Breville toasted sandwich maker
- Pocket calculator
- Game Boy
- Electric carving knife
- Toaster
- Bread maker
- Digital watch
- VCR
- Record player
Thanks very much to Pollyanna for the interview and for the chance to talk tech – we hope you enjoy our little bonus material interview. Make sure you sign up to get our free shows, as we’ll be looking at London’s Gadget Show Live in our next show.
