Save GMT - Greenwich Mean Time
To correct differences between the rotation of the earth and atomic clocks, sine 1972, "leap seconds" have been added.
The International Telecommunications Union has proposed that the "leap second" is abolished - this will de-couple timekeeping from the earth's rotation, and from the position of the sun. Instead, they propose a leap-hour ever 600 years.

If the plan goes ahead
We won't be able to tell the time from the position of the sun and the stars
- Sundials and nautical measuring equipment will be come inaccurate
- Astronomers will have to change their measurements
- GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) will be replaced with UTC (Universal time)
